nights with the friends i'll never forget

New Year's Eve was wildly fun and way beyond the normal range of what Brian and I typically spend on a night out. Which was okay. Because it was New Year's Eve and we were out with some of our favorite people in the world who we don't see often for reasons like: living in another city, living in another state, living across the country, living in another country.

Since I was working a wedding that morning, Brian and I hopped in the car as soon as I got home and sped our way down I-95 to DC just in time to change for dinner. We started with Indian food, moved onto a mini birthday party for Kacey in her hotel suite, ended up at Modern in Georgetown for dancing and the midnight champagne toast. In between there were sparkly dresses, cookie cakes, midnight kisses, epic breasts, and the oddest of mandatory lap dances.

And no, for those who were wondering, I did not get anywhere near as drunk as I did last year (though that may have been mostly because there wasn't a bottle of champagne just lying around waiting for me to have my way with it — and because Mike did not turn up with tequila shots for everyone). We did all (except for an adventuresome duo) have the fun realization, at 1:00am, that we were ready to call it quits for the night and therefore probably qualify as "old." But that was okay, because it meant that Brian and I could meet up the next morning for brunch with Josh and begin New Year's Day New Orleans style.

I couldn't ask for a better start to 2012. Happy New Year, everyone!

  2. I LOVE that picture of Neena and Mike and what looks like a failed lap dance :). The rest of the pictures are pretty great, too-- I missed you all!

  3. Failed lap dance? Absi, give me some more credit here. My favorite is Megan's face as she is... er... "dancing".... behind me. I also, of course, love having another picture of me and you. Thanks for posting these Kayface!
